Growing Into A Mature Relationship With Christ

Worship Arts Ministry

The Worship Arts Ministries of Decatur Church of God encompass the areas of Music, Drama, Special Productions, Technical, and Hospitality.

Through the Worship Arts Ministry people may bring their gifts and talents to be used in praise to God and in leading others in worship.  God gives the gifts and we seek to develop and use them in adoration to Him.  This ministry depends on dedicated and committed people who want to use their gifts and talents to glorify God.

DCOG Worship Singers -
This adult choir is the base and core of the vocal ministry.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 6pm with occasional additional rehearsals.  Involvement is open to individuals senior high and above by meeting with the Pastor of Worship Arts before your first night attending rehearsal.

Worship Teams - Worship Teams are vocal groups, selected to assist leading the congregation in worship each Sunday morning.  Worship Team members must be members of the sanctuary choir and be able to lead the congregation to worship through their expression and singing.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings at 8am.

Vocal/Instrumental Ensembles - These ensembles provide more opportunity for vocalists to share their talents. Rehearsals throughout the week enable these ensembles to prepare for worship.

Children's Music and Choirs - Opportunities are open for those gifted in leading children's music.  This includes opportunities in directing and assisting in seasonal children's musical presentations and also music for specific children's classes, children's church and Wednesday night programming.  This program is coordinated through the Children's Ministries Department.

Drama -
Drams brings about a sense of "participation" to the listener like no other spoken word.  Drama communicates concepts and ideas effectively and can enthuse the spirit.  Drama  presentations utilize many talented people each year.  These  opportunities primarily focus on the Christmas and Easter season through special productions.  Drama opportunities are also available in a smaller setting and are incorporated into Sunday worship to bring the message of the gospel alive.

Special Productions -
These opportunities provide a wonderful outreach for the community.  Large scale productions can become tools for evangelism that appeal to people of every age.  Christmas and Easter are large scale musical drama productions that require a variety of staff to make these productions possible.

Technical Opportunities -
These provide a place for service for those with skills in audio, video, media, lighting, computer graphics, and tape ministry.  Every worship service and major production utilizes this team effort.

Hospitality -
The hospitality staff is composed of those persons who have unique gifts for this ministry.  The Ushering and Greeting Staff offers assistance and serves the congregation and guests through welcoming, managing the follow of people, and the taking of the offerings.
